What Is It?
Cupping therapy is a technique that uses suction to lift the skin and underlying tissue. While most soft tissue treatments apply pressure to the body, cupping works by gently decompressing the tissue.
It’s commonly used to reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, and support recovery.
How Does It Work?
Specialized cups are placed on the skin to create a gentle suction that lifts the tissue.
This helps increase blood flow to the area, decrease muscle tightness, and improve how the tissue moves. You may feel a pulling or tight sensation during treatment, which is normal.
Cupping can sometimes leave temporary circular marks on the skin due to increased blood flow to the area. These marks may look similar to a bruise but are generally not painful and typically fade within a few days.
Cupping is often combined with other treatments like movement rehab and soft tissue work to improve overall results.
