Shoulder Pain

Pain with lifting, reaching, pressing, or everyday upper body movement

What it is

Shoulder pain is common, especially if you lift or stay active—but it’s rarely just a “shoulder problem.”

The shoulder works closely with your upper back, ribcage, and shoulder blade, so when one area isn’t moving well, it can create stress somewhere else.

In some cases, this can involve irritation to structures like the rotator cuff or labrum—but more often, the underlying issue is how the shoulder is moving and handling load.

Why you’re experiencing it

Shoulder pain usually builds over time rather than happening randomly.

Common contributing factors include:

  • Limited shoulder or thoracic mobility
  • Poor control of the scapula (shoulder blade)
  • Overuse from lifting or repetitive activity
  • Weakness in stabilizing muscles
  • Training errors or poor load management

When these stack up, the shoulder ends up taking on more stress than it can handle.

How it shows up

You might notice:

  • Pain with pressing or overhead movements
  • Discomfort reaching behind your back
  • Pinching or clicking sensations
  • Weakness or instability
  • Pain during or after workouts

A lot of people try to push through this, but that usually just prolongs the issue.

How we help

At CSPC, we don’t just treat the shoulder—we look at how everything is working together.

Your plan is built around:

  • Reducing irritation and improving joint mechanics
  • Restoring mobility where you’re limited
  • Building strength and control through the shoulder complex
  • Improving lifting mechanics
  • Gradually returning you to full activity

The goal is to get you back to training without hesitation or fear of flare-ups.
