Pain or tightness in the back of the thigh, often with running, sprinting, or hinging movements
What it is
Hamstring issues can feel like tightness, pulling, or sharp pain in the back of the thigh.
A lot of people constantly stretch their hamstrings, but tightness is often not just a flexibility issue.
In some cases, there may be a strain or irritation of the hamstring muscle or tendon, but more often, the bigger issue is how the muscle is being loaded and how well it can handle that stress.
Why you’re experiencing it
Hamstring issues usually develop from a combination of factors.
Common contributors include:
- Poor load management
- Weakness or lack of eccentric strength
- Limited hip mobility
- Poor control during sprinting or hinging movements
- Previous injury
When the hamstring is asked to handle more force than it’s prepared for, it becomes irritated or strained.
How it shows up
You might notice:
- Tightness in the back of the thigh
- Pain with running or sprinting
- Discomfort with hinging or deadlifting
- A pulling sensation during activity
- Recurrent strains
How we help
At CSPC, we focus on rebuilding strength and resilience—not just stretching.
Your plan is built around:
- Reducing irritation and calming symptoms
- Improving hip mobility and control
- Building strength, especially through full ranges
- Improving movement mechanics
- Gradually progressing back to higher-level activity
The goal is to get you back to running, lifting, and training without constantly worrying about re-injury.
